How Do Mexicans....

I was taking a study break and saw this. I seriously was laughing out loud for a while... Lol

Ethiopia, Greece or Mexico?

My title is self explanatory, really.

I mean Greece? As in like, chicken grease...so unattractive. No thank you.
And so what if Ethiopia has coffee! That's obviously all they have, that's why people starve over there.

Now Mexico! Who doesn't like Mexican food! and they help people with bad parking, huh Mary?!

lol

Give Me a Middle Name!

So I recently found out that for one of my clinical rotations I need to have complete initials. Meaning I need to make up a middle name! Lol
So I challange you, the reader, to come up with a middle name for me :)
Winner gets a virtual high five. Lol
By the way, our sky looks so pretty today! I guess rain is a good thing. Haha

Planning Ahead?

When I was 17/18 I decided that I was going to be a nurse, and I went around telling people my "plan". My "plan" was that I was going to be a nurse, and my husband was going to be a preacher. We would live in a underdeveloped country and I would witness to my patients - which would end up being the individuals that made up our congregation. Yup, that was my plan, I even told my pastor. lol - of course I was just kidding. Even thought that would still be nice if it happened. haha

When I was 19/20, during my second year of college, the idea of graduate school came to mind. I decided that I would go to a "good school" for graduate school if I ended up going. I would aim at UC Berkeley to get my Master's degree in public health with an emphasis in nutrition, or maybe UCSF to get my Master's degree in nursing in some specialty.

In high school and in college, I spent time a volunteering, and networking. I made sure that I was known throughout my community and in at least one hospital. I knew it could all work at my advantage when I graduated school, they could maybe get me a job! (of course I didn't just visit people to network, I just like keeping in touch with people. If you know me well enough you would know I just enjoy people in general.

One of the reasons I chose nursing was because it is flexible. I could work in so many different areas, travel if I needed to, and earn enough if my future husband couldn't work (i.e. if I ended up marrying somebody who would become a full time pastor ect. Not to support a bum of a husband lol ). This career allowed me to give God room to put me wherever He wanted me.

This was important to me because early on in college I noticed that some young Apostolic's get so caught up in their career and in planning their future, that they don't give God  "wiggle room". They just straight up plan their future and don't give God the room to change or adjust those plans.  I thought I was giving God that "wiggle room".

Then here I am on my ___ year of college, 2 more years to go, and it struck me - I don't know where God wants me and I was unconsciously planning my future step by step. Although I chose nursing for all the right reasons, I was planning life after nursing school and preparing for it. Whether it was Graduate school, big trip, or just getting a job. It's like "Hellow Anali! Look what you were doing. What happened to giving God room? You were preparing for something you don't even know if it is going to happen". Yes I talk to myself.

That doesn't mean I would take back all the events I participated in and all the people that I met, but it was just a wake up call of what life can do to an individual. It can just wrap you up like a burrito without you even noticing.

Sometimes we just need a breather to make sure God is still #1 on our list. After all, why shouldn't He be #1?

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

I especially like this part of this verse - "to them who are called according to his purpose"

His purpose.
Yes folks, his purpose, not ours.

Our purpose in life is to fulfill His purpose - to make try to achieve our full potential. The biggest obstacle in this?

The individual you see in the mirror everyday.

"Ay que fea"  lol jk.

By the way, please take some time and vote on the poll on the right of this blog. Thanks.

A Thought For You Lovely Ladies

Have you ever though - "God I want to be so hungry for you, and so involved in the things of God that I don't want to care much about shopping and clothes"

Okay okay, listen here you shop-a-holics, take a deep breath and count to ten before you keep reading.

    Ready? Thanks.

Anyway, I hope I am not misunderstood. I don't mean go ahead and dress all well...ugly. By all means, continue dressing cute, for several reasons like this one (will take you to Mary's post).

As ladies, we get into "I want 'this' and 'that'" modes. You know, when you want to put together a specific outfit you have in mind or just want another cute pair of flats? Or if you are anything like me, you'll want to go shopping for the upcoming season although you already have clothes (obviously if we survived the last winter/spring/summer ect), but you really really don't need anything.

During the summer there were maxi skirts everywhere. Let's just say I added quite a few skirts to my collection this summer..lol. When I noticed that I probably shouldn't buy anymore and finally set my limit, that frustrating uneasy"I want that" feeling settled in.

Then the following thoughts came to mind one day when I was reflecting on God and in life in general.
My hunger for God should out due all, and I mean all desires in this life - including the desire to buy more clothing. That hunger should be constricting, overwhelming, to the point that it is manifested in the way that physical hunger is.

When you are really hungry, food is always in the back of your mind, you crave everything, and nothing seems quite complete until you eat food. And that is exactly how our hunger for God should be.

I just sat there and thought "God, put in me a hunger, a desire so strong that these silly worldly things mean nothing to me. It should not be bothering me that much that I can't buy ____" lol.

I know this is a bit silly and all, but ya know, I had to remind myself about this previous thought now that fall has kicked in, because I feel like buying every single scarf I don't have as well as every cute pair of boots..lol. I figured this might be helpful to other ladies :)

You still want to go shopping? Well ask yourself these questions:
    1. Who am I trying to impress with the new clothes?
    2. Is it really worth it spending money on all that stuff?
    3. Do I already have ___? If so how many.
    4. Can I even afford it.

So yeah! That is all. Have a lovely weekend.

Getting Slapped by The Holy Ghost!

Okay so... basically I'm chuckling at the thought of this post and I am literally smiling at my screen. lol...

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago some ladies from the church and I were recalling funny stories that had gone on at the church. Ya know, people falling asleep at the altar,  people saying "Amen" at the wrong time, ect.

One of the funny things we were remembering was about one of the sisters, and how when she first got into church and when God would touch her, she would basically slap the whole church because she would spin (in the spirit) and not notice what was going on.

Well I jokily said "Maybe that was the Holy Ghost slapping somebody trying to tell them 'you better get right with God!'", and that was the end of our convo.

I am really giggling to myself as I type, this is ridiculous..lol

And well, first of all, I am glad to say that in the past two weeks I've been touched in an amazing supernatural way. Two moves of God that I will never forget.

One of those days as the Holy Ghost started moving, and when I finally let loose (if you guys know what I mean?)
I felt I hit something or somebody, but I mean , I didn't care, I was getting my blessing!

Days later I remembered this and told my mom that I thought I probably slapped somebody, and that it was funny to me since we had just talked about getting slapped by the Holy Ghost.

I recently found out who got slapped....I guess it was a visitor (well, she's been around for EVER) and she was not very happy about getting slapped and I guess stormed out of the church after it happened. Apparently though, she needed it....long story, but trust me on this.LOL

Ah church...It's amazing for so many ways. haha.

They Be Makin' It Hard For Us Mexicans To Eat Chips

Longest title EVER right? They be makin' it hard for Us Mexicans to eat chips. There are so many options that it's hard to pick!

Seriously though, the other day I went to the store to buy my beloved Hot Chips,  and then I saw this next to them....
    c
I had to do a double take at the Hot Chips at my hands... I was thinking "Hot Chips or Tapatio Ruffles?"
I ended up with my Hot chips, I mean I guess I could have gotten both, but ya know, I ain't trying to clog up my arteries or anything.

I still haven't tried the Ruffles though, but soon enough I will. haha
Too bad they don't have Valentina chips, I prefer that over Tapatio...Does anybody know what I'm talking about or is this just a Mexican thing? I forget at times that not everybody knows what Tapatio, Valentina, Ganzitos, frijoles puercos, tamales dulces...ect are. lol.

On a different note, anybody have any good jokes? I'm in need of a laugh. Thanks :)

I Have Proof I Have Bad Parents..

What kind of parents put their child on a dresses to take a picture? I could have fallen and died!

Here they go again leaving me on an edge where I could have easily fallen!
And then they even leave me alone on a shopping cart! I could have rolled away, and they would have never seen me again. I even look scared!

LOL just kidding, I have the best parents EVER. But I did tease them about these pictures. I even showed them to some ladies from the church to prove that my parents didn't take care of me. lol.

    Last but not least...
Check this picture out. My cousins face cracks me up for some reason. You know, the little boy with the bulging eyes?  lol I'm the squinting one in the red. lol.
