Can't Wait? Then You Should't Date

**Disclaimer: Please keep in mind that every relationship is different and not everyone has huge gaps when waiting...This post in not in any way related to anybody's relationship

Ouch on the title right? But ain't that the truth! The topic about waiting/dating has been brought up several times during the last week, so I felt that I should try to write a little something.

When somebody thinks about dating/having a bf or gf/courting or whatever, many individuals think is all about having that special person in your life- you know the one that likes you when you like them;the one that makes you smile and blah blah...Sure it can be all that and more, why not? But it doesn't come as easy and quick as some people would like.

Here are some examples that support what I am trying to say.

1. As ladies we wait to be aproached by young man of our interest  (ahem RIGHT?)
As a young man, you wait for the right moment to approach the person of your interest.

2. If there is a mutual interest and phone numbers are exchanged (Pastors numbers ideally) then you wait for the pastors to talk (Because we all want our pastors approval in our dating lives RIGHT?). Remember, they are preocupied with more important things, so our dating lives aren't priority (LOL)

3. Once you start talking to an individual then you wait again.... wait for the relationship to unfold...or fall apart. lol.

4. The most time consuming crucial step in dating is waiting to hear from the Lord.

Of course, #4 should be in every step, and the time that God responds varies as most of us know. If you do not know how to wait before you get into a relationship the probability of you putting your foot forward before God, goes up (if that makes sense).

Unfortunately, waiting is hard, no doubt about it, but you know what? Suck it up like a big kid, because only big kids date right? (lol I'm so rough, huh?)

Here are some random points:
  • If somebody is waiting for you and gives up and leaves, then that person is NOT for you. You should not make any un-Godly-adjustments just to try to make a relationship work.
  • If you aren't considering marriage at all yet and like somebody, but want to talk to him/her before anybody gets to him/her because you feel you need to "reserve" them for yourself then you shouldn't date until you understand that God will work things out if that is the one for you. (How about that for a run-on sentence)
  •  Never make any decisions based on emotions- especially if those emotions have to do with impatience.
  • Limits are good, really - They help you get over any unnecessary excitement so you can think with your head and slow things down (If you even want that lol).
  •  Don't date if you can't wait, and you think somebody is worth it - Wait...

I guess this is just a rambling post, but all I can say is pray and wait, pray and wait.. that's what I'm trying to do! In many aspects of my life.

Anyway, I'm on Spring Break yay!

  3. Excellent post!

My husband and I dated for 15 months before we got engaged. I had several people ask me what was taking so long. Especially because we were SO old when we met! (25, ha!) We weren't in a hurry! I had a wise friend tell me, "No one ever regrets waiting." It's not always easy, but it is always best!
