No Such Thing As Race?

Last year while reading a part in one of my nursing books titled "Cultural Concepts", I came a cross the following quotes that impacted me and have been wanting to share and never did. lol

"Among humans there are no races except the human race. Ideas about race are culturally and socially transmitted and form the basis of racism, racial classification and often complex racial identities" (AAA,1998)

"The Human Genome Project has discovered that humans are 99.9% genetically alike, and that the genetic variations related to geographic ancestry do not correlate with he socially constructed racial classifications that is, there are no genetically discrete races"

And did you know that in 2008 the demographics of nurses in the U.S consisted of the following?
- American Indian/Alaska Native 0.3%
-Asian/Pacific Islander and other 5.8%
-Black non-Hispanic 5.4%
-Hispanic/Latino, any race 3.6%
-White non-Hispanic  83.2
-Two or more races, non-Hispanic 1.7%

3.6%  ........  Yup, I'm one out of the three Latinas in my class....Just thought I'd share. I'll stop before I get back to my Puente days.. lol...sigh. I need to volunteer again. Okay I'm shutting up I really am.

I need to blog more! I'm just waiting for that little fire in me to go off about some topic so I can blog with a passion. hah.

Anyway, it's a chill 77 degrees here in the bay area. Don't you all wish you were here :p.

All quotations and statistics were taken from Fundamentals of Nursing 9e, by Berman and Snyder.

The Original Apostolic Beauty

The woman that is the original Apostolic beauty, has dedicated many posts and even more vocal words, on speaking highly of individuals that she coins as "good godly young people". We've read her infamous "Apostolic Male Model" posts  (She has good opinion if you ask me...wink wink cough cough.lol), as well as her "Apostolic Beauty Posts", But I want to introduce to you the original Apostolic beauty...

Miss Mary Frances Ginty :)
I will try to briefly state some of the things that make Mary such a good example.

A woman of Prayer
Heritage 2012
If there is a woman who knows how to pray it's her! There have been countless times that we have had conversations about prayer, and about things that she felt God told her during prayer! I know that if I ask her to pray about something she will, I have no doubt about it.

She knows how to wait on God

This woman knows the true meaning of waiting on God, and she hasn't compromised any of her beliefs or convictions while doing so. As many of us know by reading Classic Mary Moment's, among other things,  Mary is truly waiting for God to bless her with a husband (and He will). She hasn't given hope up, she hasn't gotten bitter, and she isn't jealous. She is praying and waiting.

She's a worshiper

She does NOT hold back let me tell you! She is definitely not worried about messing her hair up (I can't stand girls like that by the way lol). She puts God first and that is that.

She's an optimist
Mary is just a happy person. She reflects the joy of the Lord! The way it should be. You will NOT hear a "boo-hoo , poor me" come out of her mouth.

She's loving
Mar Bear hug anyone? Well... girls only of course. She is ready to love, she loves to love! She is genuinely caring. She is like a teddy bear... and has the best shoulder to lean on. No joke. lol

She is submissive

Yes, she is. She is ready to hear what the authority in her life has to say, and she responds with a good spirit too.

Okay, I could go on and on and on BUT , I'm sure if you get to know Mary you will all know why she is so wonderful.

Love you Mary!

She loves chocolate though.
Did I mention she really loves chocolate? LOL

By the way Mary, I told you I can be nice :p
And sorry for not always being available. lol

Glorificate by Miel San Marcos - English Translation

I did NOT translate this song. I heard it in English on Youtube and included the video in this post. Although I've been planning on putting up original translations I couldn't help it and decided to share this song. I think it's beautiful and didn't know somebody had translated it into English until now. We also sing it slow like the first video BTW.
Enjoy!

English
King of Glory I surrender,
King of heaven my voice I lift to you.
Let my worship be pleasing unto you.

My desire is to woship, all I long is to touch your heart.
Let my worship be pleasing unto you.

There is no one like you Lord
There is no one like you Lord
There is no one like you Lord, my God.

//King of Kings, Lord of Lords I exalt your name on high as I draw near to your throne Lord be glorified//

//Lord be glorified//
